FAITH - BACKFIRE
Ephesians 6:13 (The Message) Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.
Something Satan never seems to learn is his schemes have a terrible knack of backfiring on him with deadly, eternal consequences.
Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers, eventually becomes the second most powerful man in Egypt. He eventually forgave his brothers for their treachery. The devil's plan backfired!
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” (Gen 50:20 NKJV)
In the book of Esther, Haman sought to annihilate the Jews. He built gallows to hang his enemy Mordecai. However, in an extraordinary turn of events he was hung on his own gallows. The devil's plan backfired.
God gives the enemy just enough rope so he can hang himself on it.
The Red Sea Crossing – Exodus 14
When Moses led the children of Israel out to freedom, suddenly they were met with an impossible situation. “…bewildered by the land, the wilderness has closed them in”. The sea in front of them and the desert surrounding them and the chariots of Egypt thundering down on them from the rear. They were trapped! But then God, 'split the sea, so we could walk right through it!' The devil's plan backfired. No matter how impossible your situation seems, the devils purpose will be upended and it will backfire!
Whenever we start to get free, the enemy’s noose tightens. We see in v10, the Israelites were afraid because the Egyptians were marching after them relentlessly. They thought the Egyptians would catch them and they’d die in the wilderness.
But Moses urged them to believe: “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.” (v13) If we have Jesus in our life, we have a covenant with the God almighty.
There is a time to pray, and there is a time to move. “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of the Lord to go forward.’” (v15 ESV)
The Israelites reached the shoreline of the Red Sea. Even though the enemy was not far away, God wasn’t in a hurry. He took all night to divide the sea. (v21)
The Israelites walked on the now dry land. Their miracle was happening. But the enemy chased them into the sea. (v22-23) Even in the middle of our miracle, the enemy will be pursuing us.
In verses 24-25 the wheels of the chariots fall off. They were stuck. Moses stretched his rod over the sea and it collapsed, drowning the Egyptians.
Jesus came to set us free. He has defeated all our enemies already. Choose to step forward knowing the enemy’s ways will backfire. You will win!
See you in church!
